Kootenay Trumpeters

February 14, 2014

It is now mid February and an optimist might say that March – and spring – are almost here! Some optimism might be justified. There were Trumpeter Swans in the area this morning. Some Trumpeter Swans do spend their winters down here around Kootenay Lake and their presence is not necessarily a sign of spring, but as I said, an optimist might feel differently.

They are such beautiful birds! They have a long journey ahead of them before they reach their nesting grounds and start raising a family. We are lucky to see them.
